Outside Sales Represenative

Job Description 

 

Lockwood Seed & Grain is seeking a motivated and well-connected Outside Sales Representative to drive sales and support our growing footprint across Fresno, Tulare, and Kern counties.  Develop and implement sales strategy to support regional wholesale accounts with a drive to push for new business in targeted sales areas.  This individual should have a deep understanding of the forage market, established agricultural and dairy relationships, and the ability to help lead R&D efforts that align with regional market needs.   

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Promote Lockwood’s full line of forage and specialty seed products, including cereals, grasses, field corn, pasture mixes, cover crops, pollinator blends, and drought tolerant species 

  • Work directly with suppliers to support marketed product line 

  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with wholesale distributors, dairymen, growers, farm managers, and market influencers throughout the region 

  • Generate new sales opportunities and grow market share by educating customers on seed solutions that improve yields, sustainability, and bottom lines 

  • Support research and development trials, analyzing product performance across diverse conditions and feeding insights back to the team 

  • Partner with internal teams to develop targeted marketing and technical materials to support sales growth 

  • Attend and represent the Lockwood brand at regional events, grower meetings, field days, and trade shows 

 

 

Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of sales experience in forage seed, agronomy, or agricultural input sales 

  • Deep connections in Central California’s farming and dairy communities 

  • Ability to work with a team to support regional sales 

 

 

 

The ideal candidate will have: 

 

  • Strong agronomic knowledge with emphasis on forage crops, dairy operations, and soil health 

  • Extensive sales portfolio  

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills. 

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage territory independently 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Ag Business, or related field preferred 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus 

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

 

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs 

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles 

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions  

  • Seasonal peaks from harvest through sales 

  • There may be additional responsibilities that are not noted above 

  

 

Job Type: Full-time 
Pay: Competitive base salary, DOE 

Start Date:  ASAP
